Shark Tank India 2: Sharks reject makeup brand's pitch as they are friends with Vineeta Singh; viewers ask, 'What kind of logic is that?'

Shark Tank India 2 premiered on Monday (January 2) with interesting pitches from different brands. The five sharks on board including Vineeta Singh, Namita Thapar, Aman Gupta, Anupam Mittal and Peyush Bansal decided to invest in some while rejecting others. However, there was one make-up brand which was rejected by the shark because they considered it to be their ‘friend’ Vineeta Singh’s competitor.

Dheeraj Bansal and Rahul Sachdeva pitched their range of everyday make-up products to the shark. Vineeta, who is the CEO of a very well-known cosmetic brand, told them, “Let me first clear, main iss industry ki gundi nahi hu.” Following this, Namita and Aman stepped out saying, “We won’t be investing in a company, which happens to be our friend’s (Vineeta) competitor.”

The two revealed how they built their company and impressed everyone with their profit margins and marketing strategies. While Aman wasn’t impressed with the brand packaging of one of the products but applauded their efforts, Peyush Bansal was impressed and asked them to work on their branding. The two of them also rejected their pitch.

This made the viewers upset who called out the ‘sharks’ since ‘friendship’ shouldn’t be the reason for them to not invest in a promising brand.

One user wrote, “Disappointed with shark tank India this season, poor people who have the same line of business as any of the judges, will not get investment just because sharks don’t want to lose their friend. What kind of logic is that?”

Another tweeted, “Why have they turned shark tank season 2 into a full TV serial drama. “Mein apne doston ke competition pe invest nahi karta.” Bhai??? Y’all are investors. What is wrong with you guys?? I love how Peyush went ‘This is stupid’.”

A viewer also tweeted, “Recode makeup deserved better than this. 15 cr FYI 21-22 with 6% PAT. Are you kidding me? Making stupid faces and laughing at founders? Horrible. I bet you this brand will beat Sugar cosmetics in 5 years.”
