Sachin Tendulkar: 'A Tendulkar opened the bowling instead of batting': Sachin shows gratitude to well-wishers after Arjun's debut | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: What more beautiful and proud moment for any father can be than to get wishes on his son’s achievement. And the same thing happened with legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar when he was overwhelmed with the congratulatory messages received after his son Arjun’s IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians (MI).
Opening the bowling for MI on Sunday against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the left-arm seamer conceded 17 runs in two overs. He couldn’t take a wicket, but did trouble the KKR batters initially.

Sachin and Arjun also became the first father-son duo to play in the IPL. Sachin captained the Mumbai Indians when the league first started and has been an integral part of the MI coaching team since his retirement from the game. The Master Blaster played 6 seasons of the IPL, from 2008 to 2013.

“It was a great moment, it is a special moment to play for the team I have supported since 2008. It was very nice to get the cap from the captain of MI and Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma,” Arjun, a 23-year-old bowling all-rounder, said after his MI debut.

Sachin and Arjun Tendulkar become first father-son duo to play in IPL

Tendulkar on Tuesday took to Twitter to express his gratitude for wishing Arjun on his IPL debut.
Thank you, Abhishek…and this time, a Tendulkar opened the bowling instead of batting. Also, you were probably the first one to face his bowling when we used to play below our building!

Thank you, Zak! Your words mean a lot to me and hold a special place for Arjun as they come from one of the most skilled left-arm fast bowlers that India has ever produced.

Thank you from a dad, dad-i!

Thanks Yuvi. Who better than you to wish a left-hander on his debut…he has always looked up to you!
