Passenger train derails in Bihar, several feared injured | India News


NEW DELHI: Several coaches of the North East Express going from Delhi’s Anand Vihar Terminal to Assam’s Kamakhya derailed at around 9:35pm on Wednesday near Raghunathpur station in Bihar.
Several passengers are feared injured in the accident and rescue teams have been rushed to the spot.
“Some coaches of train number 12506 North East Express going from Anand Vihar Terminal to Kamakhya derailed at 9.35pm today near Raghunathpur station of Danapur division. Helpline number PNBE – 9771449971, DNR – 8905697493, ARA – 8306182542, COML CNL – 7759070004,” the Northern Railways said in a statement.
According to eyewitnesses, almost all the coaches of the train were derailed.
The injured passengers are being rushed to the nearest hospital.
In June, three trains had collided into each other in Odisha’s Balasore, leading to the death of nearly 296 passengers in one of India’s worst railway tragedies.
