1 killed, 2o injured in Dibrugarh Express derailment in UP's Gonda: What we know so far | India News

NEW DELHI: Several coaches of Dibrugarh Express on Thursday derailed near Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh. According to initial reports, six coaches of 15904 Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express encountered the mishap between Motiganj-Jhilahi railway station.
The Indian Railways has issued helpline numbers in view of the mishap.

What we know so far:

  • The incident happened as the train was heading towards Dibrugarh.
  • A contingent of army jawans was sent to the sport to assist local administration in relief and rescue operations.
  • One dead, 20 injured as of now.
  • Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognisance of the accident in the Gonda and directed the officials to reach the spot immediately, expedite the relief work and directed proper treatment of the injured.
  • Additional rescue teams from the railways heave been dispacthed from Gorakhpur to the accident site in Gonda district.
  • Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has been briefed about the derailment of the Dibrugarh – Chandigarh express in Uttar Pradesh. He is monitoring the situation and the Government of Assam is in touch with relevant authorities.
  • The mishap happened around 2 35 pm according to the railway authorities.
  • Medical van of Railways has reached the spot and rescue operation has started.
