TMKOC producer Asit Kumarr Modi shared how they ensure safety of the cast and crew on set during the monsoon season.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producer Asit Kumarr Modi opens up about the monsoon safety measures on the set amid heavy rainfall in Mumbai. In an interview, the TMKOC producer shared how they ensure the safety of the cast and crew during the monsoon season. TMKOC arguably has one of the most unique sets in the television world. The heavy rainfall in Mumbai makes it challenging for the makers to film episodes. However, despite these challenges, the makers of the show are committed to entertaining viewers without interruptions.
During a chat with ETimes, Asit Kumarr Modi shared that the TMKOC set is tricky to shoot during the rains because the show’s story revolves around Gokuldham Society members, so most scenes are filmed outdoors. Modi further explained that the unpredictable rain in Mumbai, and the greenery and hills in Film City attract more rain which makes it challenging to shoot on certain days.
Asit further shared that as a producer, it is his responsibility to take care of his team members. Due to them and the show’s fans, he has been enjoying success. “In the rainy season, we give raincoats to our technical and ground staff to prevent them from getting wet and falling ill. We also take precautions by shooting indoors as much as possible. When we shoot outside, we use large umbrellas. We also ensure no rainwater stagnates on the sets to prevent mosquito breeding,” Asit Kumarr said.
TMKOC’s production head Sohil Ramani also shared, “During the rainy season we shoot most of the scenes indoors but if it is required, we try to complete our outdoor shoot when the sky is clear. But our main goal is always the safety and health of our team.” He further revealed that they ensure everyone wears proper footwear to avoid electric shocks from live wires on the set.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is among the longest-running sitcoms in India. The series is set at the Gokuldham Co-operative Housing Society and focuses on its members, who come from different backgrounds. It features Dilip Joshi, Sunayana Fozdar, Balwinder Singh Suri, Monaz Mevawalla and others.
