NEW DELHI: Indian captain Rohit Sharma on Wednesday became the first Indian cricketer to whack 500 sixes in international cricket. Overall, the swashbuckling opener is the second in the world to achieve this milestone.
Rohit achieved the milestone during India’s second ODI match against Bangladesh in Dhaka, which Bangladesh won by 5 runs.
Rohit, who sustained a thumb injury while fielding at slips, came to bat at number nine and smashed an unbeaten 51 off just 28 balls, at a strike rate of 182.14. His knock was studded with three fours and five sixes.
With 5 sixes in the 2nd ODI vs Bangladesh, Rohit’s six-hitting tally in international cricket is now 502.
West Indies monstrous hitter Chris Gayle is on top of the chart with 553 maximums (in 483 matches).
