With 851 runs in 16 matches, Shubman is currently averaging a whopping 60.79 and is now the overall third-highest run-getter in a season in the history of IPL.
RCB’s Virat Kohli is on top of the list with 973 runs in 16 matches, he pummeled during the 2016 season. The run-machine had scored 4 centuries and 7 fifties in that season.
Since IPL 2016, no batter managed to surpass Virat’s 2016 record. In fact, no batsman has managed to touch the 900-run mark in a season.
Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler is second in the overall list with 863 runs. The Englishman played 17 matches in IPL 2022 and scored 863 runs at an average of 57.53, including 4 centuries and as many fifties.

Gujarat Titans beat Mumbai Indians to reach IPL final
With defending champions Gujarat Titans, after their resounding win over Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2, set to face four-time champions Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023 final, all eyes will be once again on Shubman who is on a run-making spree.
Shubman, who scored centuries against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Mumbai Indians in the tournament so far, will need 13 more runs to go second and surpass Butter in the most run-getters list.
If he manages to score one more century and takes his score to 123, he will break Virat’s record of scoring the most runs in a season – 973 runs.
If Shubman, who has three centuries under his belt in IPL 2023, adds one more ton to his name, he will also equal Virat and Buttler’s record of scoring most centuries in a season. Both Virat and Buttler have previously scored 4 centuries each in a single season.
