Currently, he is posted in Patna.
“The earned income is 101.6 per cent more than his known sources of income,” the official said, adding the raids were conducted after procuring search warrants from the Special Vigilance Court.
According to the information provided by the EOU, the official in question purchased six land plots worth over Rs 64 lakh located in Patna, Betia and Noida.
Apart from this, he has 11 bank accounts having around Rs4 lakh deposited there.
“Prior to joining service, the official had only Rs 11,000 deposited in his bank account in addition to his ancestral properties,” an EOU statement said on Friday.
An EOU official said during the raids conducted at his rented house in Patna, the raiding team recovered Rs 37,200 in cash, gold jewellery worth Rs14 lakh, various investment papers, a car and several air tickets upon which Rs4 lakh was spent.
Another raiding team which conducted raids at his ancestral house in Betia seized a car, three motorbikes, jewellery worth over Rs11 lakh and 34 land plot documents.
“He was spending around 25 percent of his total salary on paying rent of his house,” an EOU official said, adding they would initiate further action after properly analysing the documents seized during the raids.
The official said there was every possibility of an increase in assets acquired by Verma after a detailed investigation.
