PATNA: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has come in the firing line of the opposition BJP for asking a question related to Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) formed recently to take on the BJP-led NDA in the next year’s Lok Sabha polls. Some 28 parties are currently a part of the opposition bloc.
The BPSC came under fire after it asked students to write down the full form of the INDIA which was formed during a meeting of the opposition parties held in Bangalore in July this year.Of late, the BPSC has been frequently conducting tests to appoint quality teachers for state-run schools to improve their teaching standards.
“What is the full form of the recently-formed opposition alliance INDIA?” One of the questions in the test papers asked the students to answer and gave five options to choose from among them.
Although such GK-related questions are not a bit strange, this elicited bitter comments from the BJP with the next general elections not very far away. The BJP alleged the state government was trying to publicise INDIA by asking such questions ahead of polls.
“The ruling alliance in Bihar has lost its capacity to reach out to the masses and hence is using the BPSC to publicise about INDIA,” state BJP spokesperson Ramsagar Singh said on Saturday. “At least 95 per cent people from the opposition bloc won’t be able to give the right answer but you are asking this from the poor examinees. They won’t answer properly,” he alleged.
Claiming the opposition bloc will lose its existence after 2024 LS polls, he said the general masses had disowned the opposition parties if the recent results of assembly elections in three states are any indication.
The RJD reacted by alleging the BJP is crying hoarse since this remains under sheer desperation. “Asking such GK-related questions is nothing new in the exam but this is very sad that the BJP is doing politics over questions,” RJD spokesperson Shati Singh Yadav said.
