Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actress Anita Hassanandani opened up on how sex life changes after childbirth.
Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’s actress Anita Hassanandani Reddy took a hiatus from showbiz owing to her pregnancy. She and her husband, Rohit Reddy, welcomed their son Aaravv in February 2021. After this, she faced postpartum symptoms for a year, including weight gain. Recently, the actress opened up about her life after giving birth. She did not shy away from talking about how becoming a mother has impacted her sexual life.
When asked if there was any change after giving birth, Anita told Hauterrfly, “It does change a little bit. Sex is very important in a good relationship. So I think, if you love the person, then you should be out there, asking your partner what you want.” She spoke about how relationship dynamics change after childbirth and emphasised the importance of expressing desires rather than waiting for the partner to understand the emotions.
Anita further added, “But then, you also find it back. In a great marriage, your husband will always be there to find it back for you. I don’t think there is anything wrong in expressing yourself. If you are in a relationship or marriage and if you want to be happy, you rather ask that person for what you want than wait for them to realise. That way, you’re just wasting time.”
In the same conversation, the Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actress shared her learnings after being a mother. She mentioned that motherhood makes every woman feel like a “superwoman”. When the host questioned how, she said, “The way you want to protect your child, there is no comparison. It’s crazy. I didn’t know I was this strong. Whenever my son gets fever, I become so emotional. I know how to fix it when he is unwell. Motherhood teaches you how to handle a situation for your child.”
After a hiatus of five years, Anita is back on the screen with Suman Indori, co-starring Ashnoor Kaur and Zain Imam. As she made her comeback, there’s still a mom guilt that she feels for leaving behind her four-year-old baby boy. “I love acting, and after a lot of thinking, I returned to work. Initially, I thought I would never make a comeback because I want to be there for Aarav, but you have to do things you love for yourself and learn to balance, because mom guilt is never going to go away. And then you don’t want to look back and say, ‘Hey, now my son has a life of his own, he is going to school, I should have returned to work.’ So I feel, if you feel you are ready to get back to work, do it,” said Anita.
While Anita made a brief appearance on the 2023 show Hum Rahein Ya Na Rahein Hum, she considers Suman Indori as her actual comeback. Meanwhile, her husband Rohit is a corporate professional.
