Speaking at the global investors conference in Delhi, Jagan invited the industrialists and investors to Andhra Pradesh. He also asked them to come to Visakhapatnam where the global investment summit is planned for two days in March this year.
“Here I am inviting you all to Visakhapatnam, which is going to be our capital,” Jagan Mohan Reddy said inviting the investors to the summit. He further said that he would also be shifting to Visakhapatnam in the days to come. “I myself would be shifting over to Visakhapatnam in the months to come as well,” the chief minister said.
Visakhapatnam named as new capital of Andhra Pradesh
The chief minster’s statement also came at a time when the Supreme Court was hearing the case on Amaravati as capital. The state government had challenged the judgement of the AP high court which wanted the state government to develop Amaravati as the capital. The case was heard in the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
This is the first time that the chief minister had made a mention of the capital in the last three years in office. Though the chief minister had proposed three capitals three years ago, he had been calling Visakhapatnam as the executive capital.
Jagan Mohan Reddy had planned to shift to Visakhapatnam twice in the last three years, but differed due to court cases. Sources say that the chief minister had zeroed in on moving to Visakhapatnam after Ugadi this year.
The chief minister had also told his officials to find space for offices and residences for all to start working from Visakhapatnam shortly.
