Young opener Sai Sudharsan was handed his T20I debut on Sunday, July 7 in Harare. Captain Shubman Gill confirmed that the Tamil Nadu opener walked into the playing 11 in place of left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed. Sai Sudharsan was rewarded for his consistency in the Indian Premier League and domestic circuit with a maiden T20I appearance in the second T20I between India and Zimbabwe from the Harare Sports Club.
Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bat on a hot afternoon in Harare. The decision to bat, unlike Saturday, came after it was confirmed that the pitch that was used for the series opener would be re-used on Sunday for the second T20I. India failed to chase 116 and suffered a shock defeat to Zimbabwe in the first T20I.
