36 sarpanches, key leaders from BJP, JJP and AAP defect to Congress in Haryana

CHANDIGARH: The trend of leaders from various political parties and social organisations joining the Congress in Haryana continues unabated.
More than three dozen village sarpanches and leaders from the BJP, JJP, Aam Aadmi Party, and other parties have joined the Congress, bringing along thousands of workers.
All these individuals have expressed their trust in the leadership of former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, as well as the State President, Chaudhary Udaybhan. Hooda warmly welcomed them to the party and granted them party membership.
During this development, Hooda confidently declared that the upcoming government in the state would belong to the Congress. He stated, “The people’s sentiment clearly indicates their eagerness to remove the BJP-JJP alliance from power. In such circumstances, it becomes our responsibility as Congress leaders to serve the people as true public servants and raise the voices of all sections of society, addressing their problems. In the future, this outreach campaign by Congress members will prove invaluable in providing input for the operation of a government focused on welfare.”
The sarpanches who have joined the Congress have highlighted the plight of panchayats, which are regarded as the miniature governments of the state. They expressed their dissatisfaction with the policies implemented by the BJP-JJP government, stating that these policies have severely hindered the development of rural Haryana. They cited examples such as the problematic implementation of schemes like E-tender and the cessation of grants to villages. The sarpanches lamented that despite their efforts and numerous visits to various offices, their work remains unaccomplished.
In summary, the ongoing influx of leaders from other parties and social organizations into the Congress in Haryana has bolstered the party’s strength. These new members, including the sarpanches, have joined due to their disillusionment with the BJP-JJP government’s policies, particularly those affecting the development of rural areas.
