Watch: Pathan brothers’ heated moment on pitch after unfortunate runout in WCL

Former India cricketers Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan had a heated moment on the pitch during Match 15 of World Championship of Legends 2024 on Wednesday, July 10. In the game between South Africa Champions and India champions, the brother duo was batting together with India staring down the barrel on 132/5 after 18 overs chasing a massive target of 211.

On the first ball of the 19^th over bowled by Dale Steyn, Irfan hit him in the air towards deep extra cover but captain Jacques Kallis failed to grab hold of it despite giving his best efforts. However, Dane Vilas quickly collected the ball and threw towards Steyn at the non-striker’s end seeing Irfan out of his crease.

The South Africa seamer collected the ball and dislodged the bails to run out Ifran for 35 (21). Following the unfortunate run out, the two brothers were seen shouting at each other.

Richard Levi and Jacques Snyman star for South Africa Legends

Coming back to the match, after being put in to bat first, South Africa champions posted a massive score of 210/8 in their 20 overs. They got off to a good start with openers Ryan McLaren (20 off 13) and Jacques Snyman adding 53 runs for the first wicket off 25 balls. While McLaren was dismissed by Harbhajan Singh, Snyman continued his innings and went on to score 73 (43) with the help of ten fours and three sixes.

Apart from him, Richard Levi also unleashed his wrath on the Indian bowlers with his breathtaking knock of 60 (25) smashing five fours and as many sixes. Harbhajhan Singh starred with the ball for India picking 4/25 in four overs.

In reply, India were left in all sorts of trouble at 77/5 after 11.3 overs when the Pathan brothers joined together at the crease. However, it was a mountain left to be climbed for the duo who added 56 runs for the sixth wicket. Following Irfan’s dismissal, Yusuf went on to score an unbeaten 54* (44) as India finished their innings on 156/6 and lost the match by 54 runs.
