Most ‘hotspots’ now free from anti-national activities, says Shah | India News

NEW DELHI: Home minister Amit Shah on Friday highlighted the improvement in security scenario in troubled ‘hotspots’ under the Modi government. He said youths once linked with pelting stones in Kashmir were now contributing to its development as elected local representatives, special powers to armed forces in NE had been replaced with special powers to its youth for their future and violence in Left wing extremism-hit regions had made way for national anthem in Eklavya schools and hoisting of the tricolour in every home.
Addressing a Police Commemoration Day event at the National Police Memorial, Shah said his ministry had initiated several steps to strengthen internal security and they were being effectively implemented on the ground by police and central para-military forces personnel. “Most troubled hotspots are now free of anti-national activities,” he claimed.
Expressing gratitude to the 35,000 police and central armed police forces personnel who were martyred, he said it was due to their sacrifice that India was progressing well. Shah said the government was committed to ensuring the welfare of its security forces.
